## واژه‌نامه

- ادیوگرام: کارنامهٔ شنوایی یک حیوان است: نموداری که نشان می‌دهد برای شروع شنیدن هر ارتفاع، به چه حداقل بلندی‌ای نیاز دارد. هرچه خط پایین‌تر باشد، شنوایی تیزتر است. همان نوع آزمونی که برای خود شما در گوش و حلق و بینی انجام می‌دهند.
- فراصوت: صداهایی آن‌قدر زیر که گوش شما دیگر ثبتشان نمی‌کند: بالای حدود ۲۰٬۰۰۰ هرتز. برای شما سکوت کامل است، اما سگ، گربه یا خفاش آن‌ها را عالی می‌شنوند. سوت «بی‌صدا»ی سگ دقیقاً همان‌جاست.
- فروصوت: صداهایی آن‌قدر بم که گوش شما دیگر ثبتشان نمی‌کند: زیر حدود ۲۰ هرتز. به‌جای شنیدن، لرزشی در سینه حس می‌کنید، مثل وقتی که یک کامیون سنگین رد می‌شود. اما فیل‌ها و کبوترها آن‌ها را درک می‌کنند، حتی از کیلومترها دورتر.
- هرتز (Hz): هرتز می‌شمارد که یک صدا در هر ثانیه چند بار می‌لرزد. لرزش کم = بم (غرش رعد، حدود ۳۰ هرتز). لرزش زیاد = زیر (بوق مایکروویو، حدود ۳٬۰۰۰ هرتز). و «۱ کیلوهرتز» فقط شکل کوتاه ۱٬۰۰۰ هرتز است. شما تقریباً از ۲۰ هرتز تا ۲۰٬۰۰۰ هرتز می‌شنوید.
- آستانهٔ شنوایی: کمترین بلندی‌ای که در آن صدا دیگر سکوت نیست: دقیقاً همان نقطه‌ای که حیوان شروع به شنیدنش می‌کند. هرچه این نقطه پایین‌تر باشد، شنوایی حساس‌تر است.

## بگذارید صادق باشیم
